IRCA 2023 Programme

Note: the programme is currently under development.

Each day begins with worship and ends with prayers.

The aim is to allow plenty of time for participants to get to know one another, and talk together about challenges and achievements, possibilities and plans for the future. A framework used at previous gatherings considers

  • what is
  • what could be  and
  • what will be.

As Mark, our chairperson puts it, our purpose is to

seek insights into the way God’s people are pursuing God’s will that the creation and people flourish.

Rev Dr Mark Yackel-Juleen

Participants arrive on Thursday 13 April, with a Pre-dinner reception, dinner, and evening introductory session.

Friday throughout the day and Saturday morning have a mix of sessions, with a banquet in the evening.

On Saturday afternoon time with local hosts begins. This hosting will include worshipping with a local congregation on Sunday morning and guests returning to the Seminary in time for registration for the  Wartburg Theological Seminary’s Annual Rural Ministry Conference, a joint venture this year with IRCA.

Sunday evening features dinner and keynote speaker, Rev Dr Gil Waldkoenig.

The Joint Conference on Monday includes Bible Study, a second address from Dr Waldkoenig, and options of workshops or off-site tours.

The Joint Conference concludes on Tuesday morning with Bible Study and a session with Dr Heather Major, in-coming Chair of IRCA, ending with Worship and Farewells.

IRCA’s conference continues after lunch on Tuesday and on Wednesday morning with sessions for reflection on the “seeds” gathered throughout the conference to take back to participants’ home places, as well as some time for IRCA business. Tuesday evening will provide an opportunity to meet at Wartburg Seminary with students at the Center for Land and Theology, ending with prayers for the Healing of the Nations in the chapel.

On Wednesday afternoon, weather permitting, there will be a River Tour, with dinner and concluding activities in the evening. Thursday morning 20 April will see participants depart after breakfast.

This page will be updated as more detail becomes available.
